About Us

SimpleIEP uses large language models to help special education teachers, intervention specialists, and school psychologists create individual education plans (IEPs) 5x faster for the 6+ million students who use IEPs in the United States.

In the United States, special education faces significant challenges, including inadequate funding leading to resource shortages, a shortage of qualified teachers, and difficulties implementing inclusive education. Disproportionality in the representation of certain groups, complexities in developing and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and gaps in transition services contribute to the difficulties. Technology disparities, limited parental involvement, legal complexities, and the need for mental health support further compound the issues. Addressing these challenges requires a collaborative effort among educators, administrators, policymakers, and parents to ensure the effective delivery of inclusive and individualized education for students with disabilities.

Hi, I’m Jimmie

My mom has been an intervention specialist for the past 29 years. She loves her job, but about three times a year, she half-jokingly threatens to quit because of how many IEPs she has to write. I'm really trying to get her to make it through to retirement.

I’ve been captivated by education since I was a kid. Throughout the years, I’ve worked as a camp counselor for kids in Boston, a math tutor, a teaching assistant at MIT, a higher education researcher at Stanford, and a Head of Programs at Pilina Education Alliance.

Inspired by my mother's resilience and driven by my diverse experiences in education, I founded SimpleIEP to transform the way educators approach and manage IEPs, ensuring they have the support they need to continue making a difference in the lives of students with disabilities.
